Privacy Policy

We handle the information you share with the same discretion we bring to the political work itself. Questions can be sent to DPO@councilunit.co.uk.

Who we are

This policy is maintained by CouncilUnit to explain how we handle personal data when you contact us or work with us. CouncilUnit provides research, communications and campaign support to councillors and council groups in England.

For any question about your data, or to exercise your rights, contact our data protection team at DPO@councilunit.co.uk.

What we collect

We collect only the information needed to respond to enquiries and deliver work: your name, organisation, email address, telephone number, and the details you choose to share in correspondence.

We do not run tracking-based advertising and we do not sell personal data to anyone.

How we use it

We use your information to respond to your enquiry, provide the support you have requested, and keep records of the work we carry out on your behalf.

Given the sensitivity of political work, we treat all correspondence in confidence and limit access to those directly involved in your matter.

Lawful basis and retention

We process data on the basis of your consent, the performance of our engagement with you, and our legitimate interest in running the firm. We keep records only as long as necessary for the work and any legal obligations, then delete them.

Your rights

You may request access to the data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. To make a request, email DPO@councilunit.co.uk and we will respond within the statutory timeframe.

You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
